New Bright Space Opens at Women’s Refuge in Sefton to Support Vulnerable Children
The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, in collaboration with Sefton Women’s and Children’s Aid is proud to announce the opening of their Bright Space at a women’s refuge in Sefton. This partnership aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and families in need.
The establishment of the Bright Space was made possible through the generous support of children and nursery practitioners at Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool, as well as colleagues from
Bright Horizons who collectively raised £1,000.00 towards the project. The Bright Space was also supported by The Foundations maintenance partner, Linaker, who raised £2,400 climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Their dedication and commitment have played a vital role in transforming the space into a versatile children’s area suitable for all ages.
The newly created Bright Space offers older children a dedicated area where they can complete homework and unwind in a comfortable area. Additionally, the space will cater to the needs of younger children and babies, ensuring that all age groups are provided with a nurturing and stimulating environment. Equipped with a range of resources, including a quiet cuddle corner, soft furnishings, small world play and stress and fidget toys, the Bright Space aims to support the overall well-being of the children.
Steph, a representative from Sefton Women’s and Children’s Aid, expressed their gratitude, stating:
“We are incredibly grateful to the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children and their volunteers for their invaluable support in creating this Bright Space. It will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of the families we serve.”
Leading the setup of the Bright Space was Tracy, the Bright Space Manager at Bright Horizons.
Reflecting on the project, Tracy shared: “It has been a privilege to be part of this initiative and witness the positive impact it will have on the children and families who seek refuge here. We believe that every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment, and we are proud to contribute to that cause.”
The Foundation is focused on improving the lives of vulnerable children and families experiencing crisis and disadvantage. Its Bright Spaces are enriching play environments for children impacted by domestic violence, abuse, homelessness, parental imprisonment, and ill health, and are designed to help children heal from trauma through play.
In 2024 the Bright Horizons Foundation will open its 100th Bright Space in the UK to support vulnerable children. To celebrate this milestone, our Foundation is set to launch its 100 Your Way campaign, with a goal of raising £100,000. Whether people walk 100 miles, do 100 laps of an outdoor space, do 100 press ups, perform 100 acts of kindness, or sell 100 cakes, 100 Your Way is a year-long, 100-themed fundraiser, in which individuals, teams, workplaces and communities commit to fundraise towards this £100K target.
