What is a Bright Space?
Trauma in childhood affects children’s physical, emotional, and intellectual growth and development. Bright Spaces® are designed to help. These safe, enriching, and nurturing play environment in domestic violence refuges, homeless shelters, child protection interview suites and prison visiting areas, provide children in crisis the opportunity to:
- Build caring relationships
- Heal from trauma through play
- Experience happiness
Created by the Foundation in partnership with specialist agencies and charities, Bright Spaces provide unique hubs for children to play, gather with families, and access the services they need.Our goal with Bright Spaces is to give children the opportunities they deserve to develop resilience, form stronger bonds with their families and other caring adults, and strengthen their self-esteem. We strive to promote healing, offer nurturing and stimulating activities, and provide a stable, enriching environment for each and every child who enters a Bright Space.
