Bright Space at Salisbury Women’s Refuge Officially Opens!

February 13, 2018

The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children officially opened a new Bright Space for children at Salisbury Women’s Refuge on 1st February 2018.

The Bright Space is located within the family room at the refuge and provides an inviting and homely play area for the children. It includes a home corner for role play, books, art and craft materials, and dressing-up clothes.

The project was supported by the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, Bright Horizons Hickory House Nursery & Pre-school, EMCOR UK and the Daisy Jane Trust, in memory of Jane Bartlett, who worked for EMCOR UK.  EMCOR UK staff gave their time to install additional electrical points and heating and organised donations of clothes, toys and toiletries.  The Daisy Jane Trust donated laptops and printers for the children’s homework area and game stations.

“Staff and residents at Salisbury Women’s Refuge would like to thank all involved for their ongoing generosity in gifting play equipment, toys and soft furnishings to the refuge, as well as the manpower to pull everything together in order to make significant improvements to the playroom,” said Sandra Horner, Manager at Salisbury Women’s Refuge. “The thoughtful donations have already brought fun and happiness to mums and children and will continue to do so for years to come.”

Tracy Wilkes-Green from the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children said, “We are delighted to open this Bright Space at Salisbury Women’s Refuge; and hope that it provides children with the opportunity to enjoy play and relax, aiding their recovery from the trauma they have experienced”.
