New Bright Space Opens for West Yorkshire Police
The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children opened a new Bright Space for West Yorkshire Police on 2nd October 2019.
This Bright Space, located in Mirfield Police Station, is used by the Kirklees Safeguarding Unit to gather evidence from vulnerable people who are victims of abuse. The Bright Space includes a play space, designed to help children relax and feel safe, so that they give their best video evidence, to secure the conviction of the perpetrators.
The Foundation and its volunteers have transformed a suite of rooms to create a homely and welcoming environment, which provides vulnerable people with a place to relax, read books, draw, and play.
The project was funded by grants from the Morrison’s Foundation and the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children; and fundraising from several Bright Horizons’ nurseries in the local area. Fiona Stewart, Manager from Bright Horizons Leeds Nursery, even climbed Mount Snowdon for the project, raising £275!
