New Bright Space Opens for the Metropolitan Police in Lewisham

November 26, 2019

The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children opened a new Bright Space for the Metropolitan Police in Lewisham on 26th November 2019

This Bright Space, located in a police station, is used by the Met to gather evidence from vulnerable people who are victims of abuse.

The Foundation and its volunteers have transformed a suite of rooms to create a homely and welcoming environment, which provides vulnerable people with a place to relax, read books, draw, and play. The Bright Space is designed to help victims and witnesses feel calm and safe, so that they give their best video evidence, to secure convictions against the perpetrators.

The project was funded by Bright Horizons local nursery fundraising and grants from the David Isaacs Fund and Bright Horizons Foundation for Children. A team from Bright Horizons East Greenwich Nursery raised £1,365 for the project by taking part in the Thames Bridges 25K Trek in September.

Tracy Wilkes-Green, the Foundation’s Bright Space Manager says, “We are delighted to have opened this Bright Space for the Metropolitan Police, bringing our total to 14 throughout London. We hope that it will help the Metropolitan Police to secure justice for victims and keep the children of London safe.”
