Bright spaces set up remotely in 2021

December 5, 2021

In 2021 we remotely set up three Bright Spaces: one at Watford police station, which regularly has to accommodate children overnight for their own protection the space was not fit for purpose with no facility for Children to sleep. We have created a room for sleep or rest with subtle lighting and a room for play.

The police sergeant leading the project said

“We used the Bright Space on the very first day for a high risk missing young person who we had to place into police protection once we located her. It enabled us to provide her a bed for the night and then get things rolling with Children Services the next morning. It is now a resource that we are using almost daily.”

We also supported the set up play areas at Send and Coldingley prisons. These area’s will be used for family visits but also for work with Children and Families.

We were also able to support the West Northants resettlement programme by providing equipment and resources for two hotels housing refugees in Northampton.
